| 1. Design a CD cover for a fictitious band called “The Typos”. You may determine the title of the CD as well as any one of the following genres for the band: Indie Rock, Electronic or Hip-Hop. 2. Use a visual and typography to design the CD Cover and remember to make the type work with the rest of the design. The cover should have a front and back and be 120 mm x 120 mm in size |
| 3. Expand your design onto a booklet of 8 pages – where the song lyrics are laid out. You may use fictitious type for the lyrics. What is important, is that the type you choose for your titles, body copy and accent copy should form part of the rest of the design (on the cover as well) and express the underlying character of the band. |
This assignment was a fun one! I´m more familiar with working in Photoshop, so it was fun doing a assignment in there. First I started to do some research about all of the three genres I could choose from, because I´m not familiar with non of them. I did a cover to electronic and Indie Rock, but went for electronic. Many colors and this types of colors is not my colors, so I did challenge for my self on this one. When I think of electronic music I think about colors and lights, so that was my main thought when I was making this cover. I did a mind map and some sketches, and did my cover in Adobe Photoshop.
My band The Typos is a band that plays Electronic music, with a twist of deep and harsh lyrics. They are fearless, and don´t do mainstream, they go their own way in the music world. That´s why this album is called «Who cares..».
The cover and typography is colorful and clean. Not to much going on, but enough. It´s modern and colorful.
The Typography I used: for the big texts – Ambroise std, bold and the small: Futura, medium.
